The OPS Detector

Mac App Store edition privacy policy · Cognito Agora, Inc.

Effective date: June 26, 2026  ·  Publisher: Cognito Agora, Inc.

This policy describes the Mac App Store edition of The OPS Detector. This edition is designed to be local-first, user-controlled, advisory, and non-destructive. It explains risk and lets you classify findings — it does not silently take control of your Mac.

Plain-English summary

The OPS Detector helps you review suspicious links, fake terminal-fix instructions, user-selected files, safe security simulations, user-confirmed incident patterns, and plain-English incident reports. Everything stays on your Mac unless you explicitly export it.

The current Mac App Store edition does not transmit reviewed links, reviewed support/terminal instructions, selected file findings, generated reports, or Ops Overwatch memory to a developer-operated server.

Data stored locally

  • Protection Score state generated by local checks.
  • Findings from links, message text, or support/terminal instructions you enter for inspection.
  • Findings from files you explicitly choose through the macOS file picker.
  • Safe simulation findings created inside the app.
  • Ops Overwatch incident memory records you classify (indicator, disposition, source title, learned date, safe recommendation).
  • Incident report text you generate while the app is open.

  • JSON memory import/export runs only through user-selected file dialogs.
  • Ops Overwatch memory can be removed record by record, or cleared entirely.
  • This edition does not auto-delete, auto-quarantine, block, or silently repair files.

Security boundaries

  • No self-propagation and no hidden lateral movement.
  • No unauthorized remote-agent deployment.
  • No root escalation in the Mac App Store edition.
  • No Endpoint Security or Network Extension system extensions in this edition.
  • No Homebrew dependency in the Mac App Store edition.

App Store privacy answers

  • Data linked to you: none in the current Mac App Store edition.
  • Data used to track you: none.
  • Diagnostics: none, unless Apple crash diagnostics are enabled through standard App Store tooling.
  • User content: not collected by the developer — file names, link text, and incident memory are processed locally and not transmitted.

If a future version adds optional cloud, support, threat-intelligence, or account features, those will be opt-in and documented before release.
